SONG + VIDEO PREMIERE: "Ghost Boy" by Chris Gatton

Make It Jazz, But Seriously Catchy Jazz.

We are delighted to premiere not only a song but also a music video for singer-songwriter Chris Gatton's new single "Ghost Boy". The Columbus, Ohio-based artist uses his music to play with the idea that what is complex and nuanced can also be catchy and accessible. His songwriting is inventive and profound without being overly sentimental. His music can be described as well-articulated alternative pop with an incredibly catchy jazz influence that doesn't take itself too seriously. Dave King of the well-known genre-bending powerhouse quartet The Bad Plus produced the track.

I’m so excited to share this song. Working with world-class improvisers on a pop record was incredible. They brought so much energy to the record, and the result was better than we imagined.

"Ghost Boy" has a charming animated video to go along with it, in the style of the old School House Rock show. It somewhat reminds us of the Casper the Friendly Ghost animated cartoon series, and yes, mainly because it also features a cute and friendly ghost in a large house. There is a bad guy he's constantly trying to evade and, of course, a love interest. Now, as far as the ending goes, you'll have to watch and find out for yourself. The animation has a simple illustrative style while still being lovely and colorful; genuinely worth a watch!

The new single is Gatton's third release but certainly not his last. "Ghost Boy" will appear on his upcoming album 'My Favorite Razors Edge' set for release this September. The album features drummer Dave King of The Bad Plus and bassist Erik Fratzke.
