Five Fun Facts with Realworld
After landing on our radar with their single “Green Room” a couple of months ago, the duo is back with a brand new track titled “Get Busy.” They’ve certainly kept themselves busy because along with a new single they’ve also released a very 90’s inspired music video. Anyone can relate to the message they convey with their music, especially now. We have left behind a world that constantly asked us to do more than we are capable of, without us even noticing. We should take a note or two from them and create a new real world for ourselves. One filled with what truly makes us happy without the judgement of others. If not now, when?
Read what they shared with us below:
Kegan made the first “Get Busy” demo in his bedroom studio in October 2018. We ended up using some of those original parts in the final recording. Tough to beat that demo sometimes!
The music video pays homage to Madonna’s music video for “Ray Of Light.” The song is heavily influenced by the band EMF. If you only know “Unbelievable” go check out the entire 1991 record Schubert Dip right now!
The floating head idea was only in the music video because Kegan recently found out that he still had the “green man” suit from when he used it as a halloween costume in college. Kegan also wore the suit while on drugs at a Girl Talk concert and coincidentally there was another person at the same concert also wearing a “green man'“ suit. Turns out 2010 was a big year for “Green Man” and for Girl Talk.
We love to send each other dressing room selfies from thrifting adventures. Gotta have a partner to help make the call sometimes.
We’ve both been musicians and songwriters since we were teens. Mike’s high school bands were called Mile 23 and Fury At It’s Finest. Kegan’s were called The Cheesegrater Experience Version 5 and Tony Smokes & The Ladykillers.
Bonus Fact- Not really a “fact” but worth mentioning that Realworld is all about worldwide love and understanding. We started this band as an outlet for joy in the face of an increasingly dark “real world.” Now more than ever we want to share what makes us happy with you and hopefully put a smile on your face!
