Five Fun Facts with Electric Skyline
This year may not be the best year for many, given everything that's unfolded in the past 5 months. But some positive things are happening in 2020. For one, there's a new band on the scene and they've brought along an improved genre they've named 'internet pop'. Who are you talking about and what is 'internet pop'? Let us explain…
Meet Electric Skyline! Their slogan reads: "Internet pop is what the band calls their genre. Derived from indie-pop playlists and bedroom vibes, road trips drives and purple skies, late nite texts, and lonely nites. Electric Skyline likes to keep it simple and tasty."
That's exactly what they've been delivering with their sound since they started releasing music earlier this year- simple yet tasty tracks that are perfect ear candy for a beautiful sunset drive. But don't take our word for it, listen for yourself. They've recently released their first EP, "A Side / B Side." Or as they best describe it "A two-song, modern day representation of a cassette tape with a single song on each side."
We figured it might be in your best interest to get to know them a bit better because they aren’t going anywhere… heck, they’re just getting started!
Here are some more facts they kindly shared with us:
Electric Skyline is Robby Walton and Blake Brock- both indie artists from the same town- joined by Nashville guitar player Jesse Walpole. They started putting out songs on their own in Febuary of 2020.
"Our style is kind of a representation of how it feels for us to live our lives. We’re just chill guys. We can get deep in thought at times, but we want the music to sound like you’re chilling in the room. It’s a very casual sound. Laidback like us” Walton said. “It was born from us just diving into playlists and vibing to this chill music so we called it internet pop.”
The band’s process is a self-sustainable machine. Everything you see and hear was created by the band; no label or management. They’ve written, recorded, and produced all of the material that’s been put out in 2020 as well as all of the business details that come with releasing music as an artist.
“Hit Play” was a song that Blake had half-written and “No Phones,” the same of one of Robby’s. Both songs were eventually co-written and feature both of the vocalists in the tracks.
“We are beyond appreciative for the response we’ve received online. We’re such a new band and our goals started so small but the people have really affirmed to us that we are doing something special. We’re just going to keep making good tunes. Stick to the plan and put everything we’ve got into it. Good music will speak for itself.“
