Lifestyle: Summer Festival Outfits Of The Past

Hello there,

Piera here with our first lifestyle post! We made an IG poll where we asked you guys to vote if whether or not you'd want to see content on summer festival outfits, and more than half of you said "YES." And so, here we are :)

For those who might not know me, hi, I'm Piera! I'm the founder and creative director of IndieWavves. I'm so excited you're taking the time to read this, and I appreciate you. Thank you! xx

We enjoy switching things up around here. We think it's essential nowadays. You know, to keep working towards something in these uncertain times. And speaking of uncertain times- it is currently summer here in NYC. With that comes the nostalgia of past summer events/festivals we've attended. We thought we could share some with you and give you a quick rundown of when we wore these outfits. And by "we" I mean me, Piera. I styled and wore these outfits.

Now, I'm not a fashion influencer or fashion expert. I typically influence your ears, not your wardrobe. But having lived in NYC for ten years now, there is something to be said for all the amazing fashion trends, and overall diversity we get here. Like any other woman, I like to be creative with my outfits when I can. In my regular days, I stick to dark colors, aka all-black uniform, haha.

Let's begin; this is in no particular order.

Afropunk

Brooklyn 2019

First up, we have this bright lime green dress. I love this color, and it's always great to wear it during the summer months. I'm all about comfort. In NYC, I'm power walking everywhere I go, and having comfortable shoes is vital. I paired this outfit with black platform docs. It added the perfect bit of edge to the look. I was also a little inspired by the artsy makeup in Euphoria (HBO). My friend Danny was too, so he added glitter makeup around my eyes. He did a fantastic job!

I mainly attended this festival last year to see some of my friends perform. They played this track right here way before it's release. It is now part of Lianne's latest self-titled album that I advise you to listen to.

Panorama

New York City 2017

This outfit I put together to attend Panorama in 2017. Fun Fact: didn't actually end up making it this year. Still had this outfit though and wore it to a different occasion. The white denim skirt was edgy and ripped, also a bit short. This certainly was worn with shorts underneath. The sleeves on this top have to be my favorite ever. For shoes again, I chose something with a platform. Just more comfortable to walk in, ya know? We also have a playlist with music from artists that performed that year.

You can check it out HERE.

Hamptons Pool Party

Hamptons 2017

This outfit is also from 2017, but not at a festival. I absolutely love this dress, I wore it to a Hamptons pool party celebrating the launch of a new app. These types of events are fun and a great way to network with other creatives and entrepreneurs. So definitely a perfect reason to look cute and comfortable. Clearly, I loved white this year, haha.

Govenors Ball

New York City 2019

The last outfit I wore at Governors Ball last year. I've been to this festival a hand full of times. I have to say, their line ups are pretty good each year (The Strokes almost always headline, and I'm not mad at that). But the days in which the event happens aren't always the best in terms of weather—case in point, why I'm rocking a yellow poncho here, haha. I was so excited to catch The Strokes that night, and it didn't end up happening. We got hit with heavy rain and had to evacuate. Fun times! :D
