Alith Berndarn

Art that inspires me.

Hey folks, my name is Sherwin; I write & produce music under my artist name Alith Berndarn. I am taking over this IndieWavves post, and I want to talk about inspiration and how I find it in my art. Hence, here is a list of 10 hashtags that I am currently following on social media.

#NewMediaArt

I am a huge fan when it comes to art installations. It actually gives me a soothing vibe and triggers creative ideas in my mind. Under the hashtag #NewMediaArt, you will find conceptual artists and their projects. Some of them are impressive. Such as this one here:

#surreal42

Surreal42 is the place on Instagram if you are looking for interpretations of the surrealist art style. I actually don’t know why the 42 is behind it. Maybe it refers to Douglas Adams’s Novel: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. In that book, the number 42 was the answer to the “ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.” A joke, of course. But who knows.

#Webpunk

Webpunk is the epitome of the style of art of the early internet. It can include neon colors. The artworks can illustrate many things: space, grids, people, statues, horizons, and tropical imagery. This one here is an illustration by the New York-artist Mustie.

#glitchart

Glitch artworks came to my attention when I was looking for Cyberpunk artworks. I was really into the Blade Runner 2049 movie and the original one. The world they created had an intimate-eery aura that always fascinated me. This one here is one artwork that I made under my other moniker, SÅLISONSÅLISON. Give me a follow if you'd like!

 #Databending

Databending is kind of related to Glitch Art. The art illustrations do share the same idea. However, a bit more extreme.

#immersiveart

As the name is already saying, immersive art is an art style where the viewer can immerse themselves in the artwork. It lets you interact with the art and be a part of it.

#conceptartwork

While perusing the concept artwork-hashtag, I always stop by the sketches that were posted. I'm a bit jealous that I am not able to draw in detail. I really find it impressive what some of the sketchers can create. This one here came to my mind immediately when I was looking for a good example:

#minimalzine

Minimal photography is a thing that does not bore me at all. I don't know exactly, but I always feel intrigued by the sheer minimalism that makes an image look sleek and precise.

#Infraredphotography

Infrared photography is a look into the invisible world. The human eye can see wavelengths from about 400nm-700nm (from purple to red). Infrared is the light beyond 700nm. Infrared photography produces some very distinct effects which make them aesthetically pleasing. Many of the photographers or art creatives in that section focus on landscapes or woods, as you can trigger the utmost of the IR potential. One of my favorite artists in that section is Paolo Pettigiani. A genuinely inspiring creator.

#abandonedphotography

As the hashtag is already explaining, abandoned photographs mostly illustrate places/things that lie somewhere abandoned. Nobody is there. The majority of photographers do focus on taking pictures of abandoned buildings. I find it eery on the one sight, mesmerizing on the other sight. You are just seeing it and thinking: "Ok, what happened that no one is here anymore?"

I hope you enjoyed the Hashtagibition and that some of the artwork inspired you as well. While I have you here- please listen to my new single, "Aftermath," below!
