"Gratitude" by Mantragold

"Gratitude" by LA-based band Mantragold has been re-released and is featured as the lead track in the upcoming film 'Gratitude Revealed'. The film will be screened for the first time at the Maui Film Festival on July 7th and released in theatres on September 16th in NYC, LA & San Francisco on September 16th & on Vimeo on World Gratitude Day on September 21st.

The song was previously released under the band's former moniker Blesd but is now out under the Mantragold name. We must take the time to congratulate Mantragold because that is major and well deserved. Listen to the song once, and you will immediately understand why they chose it to be featured in the movie. But trust us, once won't be enough because you will fall in love with it and its beautiful message.

The band had this to say when asked about the process of creating the track:

“Lily, Ayo, and Brock got together to write one day. We were talking about what to write about, and Brock said he wanted to focus on the vibration of gratitude. Brock and Ayo started playing around with chords, and Lily was throwing out ideas of what she was grateful for. The melody began to form, and at the end of that session that day, we had Lily's first verse and initial chorus melody. The second verse came through for Ayo a couple of days later. After playing the song live for a couple of months, we created the bridge (which is sort of the outro as well). In June, we went into NRG to record bass, drums, and vocals.

We thought the song was done and were ready to move toward the final mixing stages etc. After taking a step back from it for a couple of weeks, we realized that the chorus still needed something. When we got back together at Jeremy and Ayo's home studio to continue working on and wrapping up the production, the chorus lyrics and melody came through pretty quickly. We immediately felt like that was the piece that was missing that really brought the song to another level… it felt complete. This is particularly significant because it's been a reminder to us that songs evolve in their own time, and we really needed this time to let "Gratitude" grow to its full potential.”

‘Gratitude’ is a song about appreciating what you have and looking at life from that point of view - you feel lifted when you listen to the song.

"I am grateful for the air I breathe, the orange trees, and the ocean breeze; it's a part of me, yeah."

Speaking of which, by the song's title alone, you understand that it conveys the meaning of gratitude, in this case, what the band is thankful for as previously mentioned. And listening to what others are grateful for can be vital in reminding us how blessed we are for what we have.

"'Cause there are people I've yet to know, and there are people I had to let go, but I am right here, right now, and it's beautiful."

There is beauty in not knowing what the future holds for us. From those who have yet to enter our lives to those, we've had to part ways with. Whether bad or good, it's a learning experience in this game we call life, where there's a cheat code named gratitude.

"Just gotta search, and you will find it. You gotta check on where your mind is."

And as the saying goes: "There is always something to be grateful for", which is quite true. If you take the time to reflect on your life and what you presently have, there are at least three things you can immediately show gratitude towards, which can instantly uplift your mood.

"Live your life by the silver line; let it be your guide; it's a state of mind."

We hold power; our minds and thoughts are way more influential than we think. If we lead a life of gratitude, many of our problems will fade away and attract more like-minded people. I can personally attest to that. Every day I write down at least three things I am grateful for, and I've not only been more aware that I attract people who are grateful, but now I am here writing about a song titled "Gratitude" that I absolutely cannot get enough of. If you were to check my Spotify, you would see I've had this track on repeat lately. No shame. Just thankful that this song exists and that I can share it with you all.
