SONG PREMIERE: "With You" by Jenaé Louis-Jacques

Here at InideWavves, we pride ourselves in introducing you to new and promising emerging acts. Yes, we, of course, mix it up with some more well-known artists when we get the chance. Yet, nothing quite compares to the feeling of being able to be one of the first to introduce a talent like the one we have the honor of bringing you today.

Jenaé Louis-Jacques is a singer, songwriter, and actress based in New Jersey who just released her debut single, "With You." For this to be her first single is quite impressive and showcases all of the young woman's talents. Her talent exists outside of music as she is also quite an overachiever. The second-generation Jamaican-American singer is currently attending Monmouth University as a dual major in Mathematics and Music Industry and juggling at least one internship per semester. She strives to use her talents as a tool to make a difference in her surrounding communities and hopes to one day be known as a musical artist who has successfully created a difference in the world.

Upon first listen, the track can be attributed to letting go of romantic love thanks to Jenaé's beautiful vocals and lyrics that read, "I'm stuck, I don't know what to do... I hope you made it safe and settled into your new place." Most, including myself, will easily relate and assume it's about romance. Well, that is the beauty of music, after all. We can all place our meaning in almost any song we listen to, regardless of what the song might actually be about.

In this case, "With You" was written after Jenaé lost her uncle, who she had never met from her father's side. She shared, "Even though I did not have a strong connection to my uncle, his death really put a lot in perspective for me. I began to think about how I process grief/loss and all that came out in this song."

Since the age of three, Jenaé has been singing and has immersed herself in the music world ever since. She plays piano, trumpet and recently started teaching herself to play the ukelele. She shared that "With You" was the first song she wrote on the instrument. It's clear to see Jenaé has a bright future ahead of her, and we cannot wait to see what she creates next. She is someone you want to keep an eye on, an artist on the rise.
