ALBUM PREMIERE: 'Actress' by Indie DiMartino

The album ‘Actress’ by Indie DiMartino was written throughout 2019. It was recorded under one mic and mixed on his computer- a simplistic approach to the production and progress of the album. But don’t be fooled, the tracks are nothing short of simple. It’s eccentric rhythms and beats produce a powerful and dominant vibe, carefully blending in with Indies weightless voice.

“Independent in every sense of the word, Indie is responsible for the writing, production, visual content and music videos following every project.”

“Youth Is A Weapon” makes you imagine yourself as the main character from a coming of age indie film on Netflix, maybe starring Timothée Chalamet. The artist himself directed the music video for the track. It is an enjoyable visual similar to an 80’s movie following a young redhead walking around the neighborhood, and the events that occur when she does. You can watch it below.

“Independent in every sense of the word.”

Indie DiMartino explains that the creation and idea behind the album stem from seeking happiness in everyday life, and his generational outlook wanting to be represented in the social media world, continually seeking contentment and the need to be seen. DiMartino analyzes that this same outcome brings a unifying feeling that everyone is trying to find their purpose in life, and we can all relate. “Numb” is one of those tracks that tie into this same message.

As the next track transitions, you get to familiarize yourself with Indies’ lyrical voice. You can’t help but exemplify Radiohead’s lead singer, Thomas Yorks, and his distinctive dark style of vocals.

The rhythmic drum beats to “Strange Humor” and “Spiral Patterns/Cutting Ties” is enough to keep you wanting more, sparking a type of atmosphere that makes you want to get up and do something rebellious. The overall feel and mood are mellow while keeping an upbeat tempo, and its diverse options are enough to keep you hooked. Highly recommend you give it a listen, and let your inner imagination connect with each track.
