Five Fun Facts with Raiche
Retro-soul singer Raiche just released two new Christmas songs via Atlantic Records' Still Home For The Holidays compilation alongside Trey Songz, PJ, Tayla Parx, Sebastian Mikael, and Pink Sweat$, and she's about to release a new single called "Simple". Originally from Pittsfield, MA, the "Pick A Side" and "Funeral" singer is refreshingly down-to-earth with a sense of humor, and she never forgets where she came from. Raiche spoke with IndieWavves for a Five Fun Facts session, where we conclude she has had enough injuries. With effortless vocals, she does not need to be nervous about performing, and she counts herself as a fan of James Taylor.

When I was younger, I was waiting at ballet, and my sister was swinging this bag, and both of my two front teeth fell out. I was like seven, and they were gone for the whole year. They weren't even loose. I threw up.
One time in middle school, I was going really high and jumped off a swing because a schoolmate said he would give me $5 and I thought I was going to marry this other guy, and I told myself this is the last time I'm doing anything to impress a guy. I broke my arm.
I used to be terrified of singing. I used to be so afraid to get up there to sing. The first time I got up to perform in high school, I couldn't talk, I couldn't breathe, but my sister and I killed it. It's up on YouTube, but it's fun to go back and look at it.
Tanglewood was a beautiful experience growing up. I was kind of like a hippy child growing up in the woods, and James Taylor was like a family classic that everyone in my county listened to. He would perform every year on July 4. I would walk around barefoot in the woods.
My first solo was a Christmas song. I was an angel, and I can't remember exactly which song I sang. It was not a classic, it was a song from a constructed play written, but I remember when I got off the stage, it was the first time I performed, and everyone said it was so beautiful. That's what really triggered my confidence, and when I thought I could really be an artist. I was probably six or seven right before I lost my two front teeth.
