Five Fun Facts with Presley River
Singer-songwriter Presley River has released his latest track today titled "Save My Life," and yes, you have to give it a listen. You can thank us later!
We recently met Presley in person as he's also calling New York City home during the pandemic. Yes, masks were worn as we strolled 6 feet apart through the semi-empty city streets and talked about his music, his go-to breakfast, and whether he’s a romantic like his songs imply. But more on all that in a future Q&A video, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, read some facts he shared with us, and don't forget to listen to "Save My Life." If you like what you hear, you're in for a treat as his new album "The Odds Are Against Us" will feature eleven songs and will be released on August 5th.
I have been touring for two years now, and I've performed in 8 countries, including; USA, the UK, The Netherlands, Berlin, Canada, France, Italy, and Belgium. After the release of my new album, "The Odds Are Against Us," I plan on touring North America and Europe.
I have recorded all of my music in a small studio in East London. My first experience recording was when I recorded my first single "Right Where I Want You" in the summer of 2019.
I got my first guitar at ten years old. My dad got it for me for Christmas after becoming obsessed with Eric Clapton's "unplugged" album. It was a Little Martin acoustic guitar. I've been playing Martins ever since.
All of my songs start on the guitar. Anytime someone asks me for songwriting advice, I always say, "learn how to play guitar." It's the best tool for chasing down an idea. It's very intimate. You can sit on the edge of your bed with your guitar on your lap and say whatever you want. There's a reason why most of the greatest songwriters play guitar. It just works.
I often spend hours stuck in the youtube wormhole watching old interviews and live concerts. I've probably seen every Eric Clapton interview he's ever done. I've seen every version of "When I Paint My Masterpiece" that Bob Dylan has ever performed. YouTube is great. You can learn literally any song you want.
