Creating Without Limitations.

Singer-songwriter Michelle Treacy has invited us, yes, you included, to be a part of this new chapter of her career and music. This all kicked off with a new song and video for her single "Time Off From a Letdown." You can listen to the track and watch the music video below.

Michelle first landed on pop culture eminence when she performed an impromptu duet with none other than Lady Gaga during her ArtRave tour. She then released her debut single, "Armageddon," and even won the second season of CTV's hit series The Launch, which inspired the hit single "Emotional." As you can already tell, this talented young woman has been hard at work, paving her way in the industry. This includes appearances in television shows, magazines, and online publications.

Unlike her previous songs that were predominately influenced by pop, her latest single is more shoegaze rock. "This new direction represents a new beginning for me, creating what I want without limitations," she shares.

The beautiful and cinematic video that accompanies the track represents something special for Michelle and helps solidify the start of this new chapter. Created by an all-female team, the video is genuinely pure, simplistic, and captures perfectly a young woman spending time with herself as she maneuvers those pesky growing pains.

Thematically, the song represents the feeling of letting everyone down; however, the reality being that you are only letting yourself down by putting others first. It is about refocusing on yourself, as I have spent the last couple of years doing just that after going through such a dark time in my life.

Michelle is excited to start this new journey, including genre-bending, no limitations, and embracing her inner self. As a woman myself, I can't express how lovely it is to be able to witness another woman come into her power and light and completely own it. I'd be lying if I said I wasn’t equally as excited as she is to see what she creates next. Until then, I leave you with facts she kindly shared for our signature Five Fun Facts feature.

  1. I get words stuck in my head and have to shout them out (examples are imperial days, hillbilly Botox, Steely Dan, Phil Collins, Winona Ryder, papyrus, the list goes on)

  2. I sang with Lady Gaga in Montreal at the The Bell Centre.

  3. I had a song called “Armageddon” that was on The Hot 100.

  4. I clean my house in my underwear (who doesn't?)

  5. My favourite song is "Mambo No. 5."
