Five Fun Facts with Gregor McEwan
Indie singer-songwriter Gregor McEwan is someone you should know by now, and if you don't, don't worry, we are here to fix that. He recently landed on our radar even though there is nothing new about the Berlin-based artist; his discography dates back to 2010. It could be that he isn't an American artist, and we know how that goes- if you're not continually looking for new music from all around the world like us, your streaming platform of choice won't feed you international acts. But alas, that's where we come in. We do all the searching for you.
Now, what we can't do is make you listen to the songs, but we can highly suggest you do so. Below you can find McEwan's latest work titled 'Spring Forward EP.' My two personal favorites are "I Got You" and "₲ΛLΛX¥" which could have very well been in the Across the Universe soundtrack. Of course, this implies some influence from The Beatles, but with a modern twist.
He shared with us a playlist he made for the above EP. You can find the "Springy Playlist" HERE.
Aside from being very gifted at what he does with his music, Gregor is also quite funny. When we reached out about a possible feature, he responded with, "Puh! I'm just a stupid German guy. My English isn't that good... except my song lyrics, of course ;)" And as someone bilingual, knowing two languages makes you anything but stupid. You can catch more of his humor below as he shared some facts about himself so we can get to know him a bit more.
Although I am German and not a Scotsman (Gregor McEwan is an alias), I totally love Scottish single malt whiskey. My fave is Laphroaig Triple Wood.
Right after I played my very first show, a little boy and his mum came up to me. The boy asked me to sign his Obi-Wan Kenobi autograph card (note: Ewan McGregor used to play Obi-Wan in those goddamn prequels) Well, his mum and I smiled at each other and I signed the autograph card, just to make him happy. May the fault be with him!
As a somewhat pre-gig ritual, I brush my teeth before every single show.
When I decided to create an Instagram account, I thought it was smart to post content that works on IG (besides the music content). And as I don't have beauty tips or baby cats, I decided to post food pics. Oh well, the result was that my food pics got ten times more likes than posts regarding my music. Damn!
I started writing songs after watching the MTV Unplugged concert by the Swedish pop group Roxette.
