“I poured my heart and soul into this record in a way that I never have with my music.”

Irish- Iranian songwriter-producer Sam R. released a little something today. Ok, fine. Nothing small about this. It's only his first album ever under Glassio. For The Very Last Time is precisely what he created it to be.

"I wanted to make an electronic-pop album that would embrace more light-hearted and fragile sounds, almost like a little book of electro-lullabies," he said. "I had this dream of Neil Young making an album on the moon, and that image stayed with me throughout the whole production."

We highly recommend you give it a listen. We've been a fan since first landing on our radar with "Morning House." We also saw Glassio play live last summer, they opened for Fujiya and Miyagi. It was great, and Sam is the coolest dude. He also played an IG live set for us while he was in London at the time. Thanks again, Sam!

This new album shows a mature and confident side of Glassio, while maintaining his signature smooth dream-like electro-pop throughout. You can listen to his growth as an artist via his catalog of work.

We can't wait to hear what he creates next! Until then, give his latest album a listen and read some of the facts he shared with us below.

  1. I can do a Scottish accent "incredibly well," according to some folks. I once fooled a neighbor that we had just moved next to when I was a kid that my family was from Edinburgh for 2 months.

  2. Lloyd Cole of Lloyd Cole & The Commotions taught me my earliest lessons in how synthesizers work. I used to be in a band with his son. Shortly after, I was invited to be the keyboard player in 2013. I visited his dad's synth attic in Western, MA, where I played around on a bunch of his analog synths. His dad (whose music I love) kindly gave us his Prophet 8 synth, which completely changed my life.

  3. My mother sang backup vocals for Enya in college.

  4. I moved homes 10 times before I turned 18. I suppose this is why I often write about themes that deal with the concept of "home" in my music.

  5. Champagne + Indian food is my comfort combo!
