Ninet Tayeb & Aubrey Haddard at (le) poisson rouge

On Monday, May 2nd, we had the honor of seeing and photographing rock 'n' roll singer-songwriter Ninet Tayeb during a one-night-only performance here in NYC! Yes, this was the same day as the MET Gala, but while most of New York City was buzzing about what celebrities were wearing, we were eager to experience Ninet's music live. We have to say; we were not disappointed!

The Los Angeles-based, Israel-native, alternative rock 'n' roll musician has a loyal following who were just as excited as we were to see her take the stage that night. It was clear that Ninet Tayeb is more than a household name in her home country. From her winning "Israeli Idol" to starring in a long-running tv show about her life, the acclaimed singer, songwriter, and actress is arguably the most prominent entertainment figure in the country, and we can see why. Her audience ranged from young to old, Israelis to Americans, and everything in between. Her music is relatable, filled with emotion, and bound to pull you in no matter who you are.

Ninet Tayeb and her band played a couple of new songs from her forthcoming album and shared a secret about which one will be the first single from the album. We'd share with you, but then we'd have to kill you, and we don't want that. So, you'll have to wait and see. Ninet's voice is exactly like what you hear on your headphones, only way more beautiful and powerful in person. So is her stage presence as she treated us to a great variety of rock tunes and some acoustic ones. She also did a couple of covers, including one of our favorites, "I Put A Spell On You". We cannot express how much we recommend you to see her live if you get the chance to because Ninet and her band are pure magic on and off stage.

That same night, the talented Aubrey Haddard opened for Ninet Taybet, and she rocked it! We love nothing more than getting to a show early enough to discover new and emerging artists. How I had not heard of Aubrey and her music until that night is honestly a question I keep asking myself today. But regardless, I am happy I did because it hooked me instantly like Ninet's music.

The New York-based indie-pop singer-songwriter's vision is guided by a framework of mythology that works well with her music and subsequently with everything else, like her style and music videos. Similar to Tayeb, Haddard's vocals are powerful and harmonious, and she was the perfect act to kick-start the night. She played some new tracks, including "Green As Ever" and "Just A Wall". We highly suggest you check out more of her music if you like acts such as Lianne La Havas and Jeff Buckley, to name a couple.

Honestly, we cannot get over what a fantastic show these two ladies and their bands put on that night. We mean- "who runs the world? GIRLS!"
